The Hazelmere Café was built in 1897 and has always traded as a café and "refreshment rooms". The Stubley family bought the café in 1984 and then the adjoining shop in 1987, which now houses their bakery and shop.
The grade 2 listed building has outdoor seating and overlooks peaceful ornamental gardens and pond populated by rare water fowl.
Everything on the extensive menu is made on the premises and is presented with flair and passion. The menu changes seasonally and celebrates what is happening in the Cumbrian countryside around us. Great pride is taken in locally sourcing many of the ingredients from family run businesses and farms.
Breakfast is served until 11.30am and then the main menu up until half an hour before closing. Drinks and cakes are available all day.
The Hazelmere has a full on and off licence and offers local beers and wines to take with food or enjoy on their own.
The Hazelmere is justifiably renowned for its award winning afternoon teas. A selection of different afternoon teas are available, fabulously presented on tiered cake stands.
On a beatiful sunny day you can relax and sit outside on the attractive terrace and watch the world go by. Have lunch or afternoon tea while you peruse the daily papers.
Well behaved dogs are welcome in the café.
